Baker police on Wednesday found a woman dead in the driver’s seat of a vehicle linked to a Baton Rouge Police missing person’s report and parked outside the Baker WalMart, 14507 Plank Road, Chief Mike Knaps said.

Knaps said police found the woman’s decomposed body about 3:45 p.m., and Emergency Medical Services confirmed she was dead at the scene. EMS spokesman Mike Chustz said they contacted the coroner to determine the cause of death, and Baker Criminal Investigations detectives were called to the scene. Later it was discovered the vehicle was linked to a missing person’s report being investigated by Baton Rouge Police.

Knaps said he is waiting for the coroner to identify the woman. An autopsy is scheduled Thursday, he later said in a news release.

“We’ll go from there with it,” Knaps said. “I’m not suspecting anything. But until they tell us, we don’t know.”
