A Baton Rouge man who allegedly stabbed his ex-girlfriend in the chin during an apparent jealous rage is now in Parish Prison on a count of attempted murder.
Dave Carter Jr., 53, 4643 Sycamore St., showed up at the woman’s house around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, according to a Baton Rouge Police report.
Carter got into a heated argument with the woman over her relationship with another man, who was also at the home, the report says.
The spat turned physical when Carter grabbed a steak knife from the kitchen and shoved the victim on to a couch, and said, “You think I’m playing with you,” the report said.
The victim told police Carter raised the knife and swung it toward her throat, striking her in the chin and leaving a half-inch puncture wound, the report says.
The victim called 911 and Carter fled, the report says.
When police officers arrived, they searched the area and found Carter walking down Beech Street with a bloody steak knife tucked into the back right pocket of his pants, the report says.
Officers arrested Carter and drove him back to the victim’s home where she identified him as her attacker, the report says.
Carter admitted to getting into a fight with the victim and grabbing the knife. But he denied stabbing her, the report says, although he “could not explain how (the victim) sustained a half (inch) puncture to her chin.”
Police booked Carter into Parish Prison on one count of attempted second-degree murder. His bail is set at $50,000.
