Police arrested four people after more than 80 washing machines and dryer tops were stolen to get money out of the machines.

Baton Rouge police executed a search warrant Tuesday after a Crime Stoppers tip related to a string of washateria thefts in Baton Rouge, the police news release says.

Police recovered 82 washing machines and dryer tops of the machines that had been vandalized and stolen, the release says.

Simon Manuel, 41, 2360 Tulip St., who was already behind bars before detectives recovered the stolen and vandalized equipment, was booked on numerous counts of theft from a coin-operated machine and damage to property.

Police booked four other Louisiana people into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, including Paul Maldonado, 46, 5616 Joor Road, Baton Rouge, on multiple counts of theft from a coin-operated machine and damage to property. Jennifer Anselmo, 22, 3421 Yardley Drive, Slaughter; Amanda Mosely, 46, also of 5616 Joor Road, Baton Rouge; and Robert McCafferty, 44, 130 S. 11th St. were also booked on a count each of illegal possession of stolen things, the release says.
