Flames engulfing a vacant house in Baton Rouge leapt over to another uninhabited dwelling, causing both to burn down on Christmas, a fire official said.

Baton Rouge Fire Department spokesman Mark Miles said at least one arsonist caused the blaze, which was called in at 1:40 a.m. Friday at 1250 South Street. The fire was so intense it spread to a house next door, which was also vacant, he said. Both residences were a total loss.

Anyone with information about this house fire is asked to contact Baton Rouge Fire Department Arson Investigators at (225) 354-1419 or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-STOP.
