A 39-year-old woman killed Saturday night as she was attempted to cross Florida Boulevard was struck by two SUVs, one of which drove away before officers arrived, police said Monday.

Jannie Doiga, 39 of 30577 Milton Road, Walker, died at the scene when she was hit as she tried to cross Florida Boulevard at North Donmoor at about 10:30 p.m., Baton Rouge police said Monday.

Investigators suspect Doiga may have consumed alcohol sometime before she was hit, police said in the news release.

A preliminary investigation found that Doiga was attempting to cross the street when she was first struck by a 2013 GMC Yukon, which was headed east on Florida Boulevard, police said. Doiga was then struck again by a second vehicle, which was described as a gold or tan colored Range Rover, police said.

The driver of the GMC Yukon, who was not injured in the crash, stopped and attempted to render aid, police said, while the driver of the Range Rover fled the scene as officers were arriving.

Anyone with information on the Range Rover may contact Baton Rouge Traffic Homicide Investigators at (225) 389-7819 or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-7867.
