A 26-year-old man was injured in a shooting Wednesday afternoon on Jackson Avenue, said Baton Rouge Police spokesman Sgt. Don Coppola Jr. 

Emergency personnel responded to the scene near the 2400 block of Jackson Avenue around 1:30 p.m., Coppola said. 

Emergency Medical Services spokesman Mike Chustz said the person was transported to a hospital for injuries. 

Coppola said the man was apparently shot in the lower leg, and is expected to survive the injury.

Police continue to investigate the incident.
