A Port Allen man was killed early Friday in a single-vehicle crash after he was ejected from his vehicle, according to Louisiana State Police.

Travis Edwards, 35, died after he crashed his pickup truck while travelling north on La. 83 just before 4 a.m., the State Police said. Edwards apparently crossed into the center lane, then overcorrected and ran off the right side of the road. His vehicle struck an embankment and flipped.

Edwards was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the truck, State Police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

State Police said it is unknown if impairment was a factor in this crash but a toxicology sample will be taken from Edwards for analysis.
