Firefighters responded to the fire at 11614 Sherwood Valley Court just before 6:30 p.m. and quickly put it out before it could spread, the Baton Rouge Fire Department release says.

The apartment unit sustained $5,000 worth of damage, mostly to the floor; the rest of the apartment had light smoke damage.

The Fire Department urges anyone with information about this fire to call fire investigators at (225) 354-1419.
