At least one previously unreported shooting occurred last weekend when no fewer than four people were fatally shot in Baton Rouge.

Police said Monday that a man was injured in a Saturday morning shooting at an unknown location near Scenic Highway.

Detectives believe the shooting, which happened about 10 a.m., stemmed from an attempted armed robbery, said Cpl. Don Coppola Jr., a Baton Rouge police spokesman.

The shooting remains under investigation, and the man is expected to survive, Coppola said.

The shooting near Scenic Highway was one of at least half a dozen shootings investigated by police last weekend.

In addition to the attempted armed robbery, police said one man was fatally shot on North 37th Street and another man was shot and injured on South 16th Street, both on Saturday morning; a teenage boy was accidentally shot to death at a South Sunset Hill Avenue home Saturday morning; a police officer shot at a man who pointed a gun at the officer during a chase near Plank Road and Bellvale Street on Saturday afternoon; and two men allegedly shot each other to death at an Alliquipa Street home early Sunday morning.

At this point, police do not believe any of the shootings are related, Coppola said.
