A 23-year-old Baton Rouge man died Thursday from gunshot wounds he suffered last week on North Donmoor Avenue, a police spokesman said.
The April 9 shooting of Quention Pollard occurred after two shopkeepers, ages 21 and 27, saw a man, who they believed had previously stolen goods from their store, standing with several other men in the 1000 block of North Donmoor Avenue, Cpl. L’Jean McKneely said.
A discussion took place after which the two shopkeepers got into their car to leave, McKneely said. But as the shopkeepers were leaving, someone in the group shot at them, and the shopkeepers returned fire.
Pollard, who was not the man the shopkeepers had confronted as a thief, was struck in the head, McKneely said. Police did not know whether the Pollard, 11767 Stan Ave., was hit by gunfire from the shopkeepers or from someone else.
The investigation is continuing and anyone with information can contact the Violent Crimes Division at (225) 389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at (255) 344-7867.
