East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff’s deputies on Saturday arrested a 28-year-old man accused of attacking a pregnant woman and kidnapping her and a 3-year-old child.
Hunter Heard on Saturday shoved the woman to the ground and attacked several neighbors — including a 14-year-old — who tried to intervene, according to a probable cause affidavit.
He threw the woman into his car, where the 3-year-old was strapped in a car seat, the affidavit says.
Heard drove away at a “high rate of speed,” at which point the woman called 911, the affidavit says. He eventually stopped at the intersection of Airline Highway and Old Hammond Highway, where the woman was able to escape with the child, the affidavit says.
Heard, 8635 Fairway Drive, Baton Rouge, was booked into Parish Prison on counts of domestic abuse with child endangerment, simple kidnapping, simple battery, disturbing the peace, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, cruelty to juveniles and false imprisonment.
