A worker died Saturday afternoon in what was reported as a drowning at the city-parish’s South Waste Water Treatment facility on Gardere Lane, authorities said.
The worker was riding an ATV and fell off into some water at the plant around 1:30 p.m., said East Baton Rouge sheriff’s spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks.
The person was pronounced dead on arrival, and the Coroner’s Office has been contacted, EMS spokesman Mike Chustz said.
The South Waste Water Treatment Plant is located on Gardere Lane near Nicholson Drive.
