A police chase ended Wednesday morning after a car caught on fire and its driver was detained, the police said.
The pursuit began after officers responded to a shots fired call in the 4700 block of Earl Gros Ave., about 9 a.m., said Baton Rouge police spokesman Sgt. Don Coppola.
No one appeared to have been struck by gunfire, but officers chased a vehicle that sped from the scene, Coppola said.
The automobile caught on fire for unknown reasons and stopped at 10400 River Road., a few miles from where the chase started, Coppola said.
A man was detained, but Coppola said he didn’t immediately have information on the suspect’s identity or if any charges are pending.
No injuries have been reported.
