An unidentified man was taken to a hospital Thursday night after being struck by a car near 12400 Florida Blvd., according to a Baton Rouge Police Department news release.

Officers found the unresponsive man about 8 p.m. Thursday laying in the roadway with severe injuries, the release says.

The man was hit by someone driving a 1992 Toyota Corolla, the release says.

The driver of the vehicle, who was not identified, told officers he was driving on a service road when the man, whom he did not see, landed on his car, the release says.

Officers’ initial investigation revealed that the pedestrian was crossing Florida Boulevard when he was hit, the release says.

Investigators are still trying to identify the pedestrian, the release says.
