Gerald Williams, 38

A 38-year-old Texas man in a jealous rage early Sunday morning kicked down the apartment door of his ex-girlfriend, choked the woman and then stole the cellphones of her and her current boyfriend, according to a Sheriff’s Office report.

Gerald Williams, 38, 5350 W. Military Drive, San Antonio, Texas, allegedly bashed open the door of his ex-girlfriend’s apartment in the 17200 block of Jefferson Highway shortly before 5 a.m. Sunday, grabbed the woman’s throat and choked her until she fell to the ground, according to the East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff’s report.

The victim, who used to live with Williams and has a child with him, told deputies that Williams then grabbed the two cellphones and left.

Deputies located Williams shortly afterward at the Microtel at 10645 Rieger Road. After deputies arrested Williams and advised him of his rights, he admitted to attacking his child’s mother, according to the report. Both cellphones — a Samsung Edge and an iPhone 6, valued collectively at $1,600 — were found in Williams’ rental car in the motel’s parking lot, the report said.

Williams was booked into Parish Prison on one count each of home invasion, felony theft of property and simple criminal damage to property.
