KAHULUI, Hawaii — A 57-year-old man found dead on Christmas in Kahului, Hawaii, has been identified as a Baton Rouge native, a Maui County Police spokesman said Wednesday.

William George Sublett was found with head trauma on a beach near a wastewater treatment plant in the city of Kahului, police Lt. Wayne Ibarra said.

Sublett was working in Maui County, but it is uncertain for how long, Ibarra said.

The incident is still under investigation, Ibarra said.

Rachel Sublett, the victim’s 21-year-old daughter, said Wednesday that the family, which still lives in Baton Rouge, was informed of the death Tuesday.

Rachel Sublett said the family will go to Maui in the coming days to pick up the body. She declined further comment.
