Baton Rouge Police arrested a man accused of robbing the mechanic who had been working on his vehicle for about a year.

Jacob Bess, 28, showed up at the Choctaw Drive business on March 5, pulled out a black pistol and demanded money from a man working there while aiming the gun in his face, according to the police report.

Bess then punched the man in the face, fished $300 out of the mechanic’s jacket pocket, and sped away in a vehicle, the report says — though the report does not specify who owned that vehicle.

The robbery victim identified Bess to police by name, according to the report.

Bess, of 8271 Skysail Ave., Baton Rouge, was booked Monday into Parish Prison on a count of armed robbery.
