Authorities with the U.S. Marshals Service on Friday morning arrested a Baton Rouge man wanted in the Jan. 11 shooting death of a Plaquemine man near a Plank Road grocery store.

The suspect, Sidney Paul Ellois III, 18, was captured in Baton Rouge, said Cpl. L’Jean McKneely, a Baton Rouge police spokesman.

Ellois was wanted in the death of Calvin Smith, 19, who was found fatally shot in the parking lot of Carlin’s Food Mart in the 2900 block of Plank Road, police said.

Ellois was wanted on counts of second degree murder, armed robbery, contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile and principle to attempted second-degree murder, according to Crime Stoppers.

Ellois is currently being held at the Violent Crimes Unit at the Louisiana State Police headquarters, McKneely said.
