The body found lying on the floor of a vacant building that was discovered by firefighters while they battled a blaze there late Tuesday night has been identified as 57-year-old Sharon Bayne, 12643 Conwood St, according to a police news release.

Investigators believe Bayne may have started the fire at 2063 Dallas Drive and was unable to escape before she became incapacitated, the release says.

The incident is still under investigation pending autopsy results, the release says.

The fire was called in to firefighters at 11:20 p.m., according to a Baton Rouge Fire Department news release. The blaze was under control by 1:43 a.m., the fire release says.

Once firefighters got the fire under control, firemen went into the building through the front door on the east side and found the body of a woman, the police release says.
