A Baton Rouge man arrested Wednesday is accused of raping a homeless woman April 7 while she slept on the floor of a friend's North Boulevard apartment.
According to a Baton Rouge Police report, the victim woke up in the middle of the night to 41-year-old Shuray Wells groping her. Police say he then forced her to perform a sexual act, telling her "shut up or I'll kill you."
The victim reported she encountered the assailant again on Convention Street two days later and he pushed her down, causing injury to her hand. She told police she is scared for her safety.
The woman identified her attacker as a homeless man who goes by "Ray-Ray."
Wells, who lives in Baton Rouge, denied the allegations and claimed the sex was consensual.
Wells, of 153 N. 17th St., was booked into Parish Prison on counts of second-degree rape and simple battery.
