The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced that an unplanned closure of the westbound lane of La. 408 (Hooper Road) between Carmel Drive and Tanglewood Drive is currently in place, in order for crews to repair a box culvert (or drainage pipe) damaged by road erosion. This was found during a routine road inspection.

A full closure will begin at approximately 3:30 p.m. Thursday, and continue through Sunday evening, November 10.

There are two suggested detour routes: Joor Road and La. 410 (Blackwater Road) to La. 64; Airline Highway to Greenwell Springs to La. 946, and back to La. 408.

Flaggers are currently on site, guiding traffic through the area until the complete shutdown begins.

Tanglewood Drive and Carmel Drive will remain open to traffic.
