St. George and Baton Rouge firefighters teamed up Monday morning to extinguish a fire at an unoccupied home at 9528 Crandon Drive.

“The fire was contained to the attic and exterior wall with only slight damage to the living area,” St. George Fire Department spokesman Eldon Ledoux said in an email.

The St. George Fire Department dispatched three engines and a ladder truck at 7:50 a.m. The Baton Rouge Fire Department sent two engines.

“They found fire and smoke coming through the ceiling of a side porch near the carport,” Ledoux said. The fire was under control at 8:20 a.m. and there were no injuries, he said.

Utilities have been disconnected and St. George investigators were called to the scene, he said. “At this time the fire is classified as of undetermined origin and is under investigation.”
