Ascension Parish sheriff’s deputies say a tip led to the arrest Saturday of a couple accused of burglarizing a local pharmacy Jan. 16.

The couple broke into Galvez Pharmacy through the roof and stole several bottles of controlled dangerous substances about 9:30 p.m. Jan. 16, an Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office news release says.

Jeremiah Harrison, 38, and his girlfriend, Tara Torres, 35, are accused of stealing bottles containing hydrocodone, codeine, alprazolam and cyclobenzaprine.

Deputies found Harrison at his Autumn View Drive apartment, where he confessed to the burglary, the release says. Detectives found a small quantity of the stolen medication at his apartment.

The investigation led deputies to arrest his girlfriend as well, who also had active warrants with another agency, the release says.

Harrison, 18014 Autumn View Drive Apt. 17, Prairieville, was booked into Ascension Parish Prison on simply burglary of a pharmacy, simple criminal damage to property, criminal trespass, possession of Schedule II controlled dangerous substances and theft.

Torres was arrested on accessory after the fact to simple burglary of a pharmacy and three counts of being a fugitive from another agency, the release says.

No bail has been set.
