Baton Rouge police on Friday arrested a 40-year-old man who is accused of threatening to kill his girlfriend’s children and of firing a gun into a room where they were sleeping.
Michael Lands was at his girlfriend’s house, arguing with the woman over the phone, when he pointed a handgun at one of her children, according to an affidavit of probable cause. He told the woman, “I’m gonna do him first,” the affidavit says.
Lands walked into the kitchen and fired his gun through a wall into a room where several children were sleeping, the affidavit says. Police arrested him at the house shortly after, about 2:33 a.m.
Lands, 6907 Byron St., Baton Rouge, was booked Friday into Parish Prison on counts of attempted first-degree murder, felon in possession of a firearm, illegal use of a weapon and public intimidation.
