Livingston Parish sheriff’s deputies were searching late Saturday for a man who is accused of shooting another man in the chest Saturday afternoon in Denham Springs, then running from the scene.

Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard said deputies arrived at the scene of the shooting at 32085 Burgess Road shortly after 3 p.m. and the victim was transported to a local hospital. His condition is unknown, Ard said in a news release.

Deputies are looking for Johnathan Debacco, who left in a vehicle after the shot was fired.

“Neither lived there,” Ard said. “We know an argument occurred between two men. We don’t know what that argument was about. We do know one man used a handgun to shoot another in the chest area.”

After Debacco caught a ride from the scene, he got out of the vehicle around the 10,000 block of Arnold Road. He is on foot, Ard said, and deputies do not know if he is armed.

He was described as a white man last seen wearing faded blue jean shorts, a light-colored shirt, black tennis shoes and a black baseball cap, the release says.

Ard urges anyone with information related to this case to call the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office at (225) 686-2241, ext. 349, or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-7867.
