A 29-year-old Baton Rouge woman was killed and another woman severely injured Wednesday in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 110 near Chippewa Street, police said.
Tiffany Cage was driving a 1998 Ford Explorer in the southbound lanes of I-110 when the vehicle’s right rear tire unthreaded, police spokesman Sgt. Don Stone said.
Cage tried to maintain control of the Explorer but overcorrected and hit the center retaining wall, Stone said. Cage overcorrected again, causing the sports utility vehicle to flip several times.
Cage, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the SUV during the incident, suffered severe injuries to the head and died at the scene, Stone said.
Cage’s passenger had to be extricated from the Explorer and suffered a number of fractures, Stone said. The passenger is expected to recover.
