Teen critically hurt when shot in head

A 17-year-old boy was shot in the head early Sunday while sitting in a vehicle on Adams Avenue, Baton Rouge police said in a news release.

The victim, whose name was not released, was lying on the pavement of Adams Avenue when officers arrived around 2:25 a.m., Capt. Joan Cage said in the release.

The victim and an 18-year-old woman were sitting in the vehicle parked at 2000 Adams Ave., when gunshots were fired at the car, Cage said.

The woman was not injured, but the teen was taken to a hospital with critical head injuries, Cage said.

Police have no motive for the shooting and are asking anyone with information to contact the Violent Crime Unit at (225) 389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-STOP.

Authorities arrest 5 on suspicion of DWI

Authorities arrested at least five people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked them into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, booking records show.

Those booked and the counts against them:

•Damion Milton, 26, 835 Columbus Dunn Drive, first-offense DWI, improper lane usage and tail lights required.

??Hayes Ohmstede, 18, 479 Huntington Drive, first-offense DWI, reckless operation of a vehicle and injuring public records.

e_SBltLacey Rasbury, 26, 18007 Glen Park Ave., first-offense DWI, failure to obey a stop sign or yield sign, and motor vehicle inspection required.

e_SBltAdam Rowe, 22, 20041 Julie Rowe Drive, Livingston, first-offense DWI and improper lane usage.

e_SBltDeroy Waldon, 24, 262 Gatebriar Ave., first-offense DWI, equipment violation and failure to maintain control.
