A Baton Rouge man accused of shooting at his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend in early August was arrested Thursday, according to an arrest warrant.
Derrick Jerone Broadway, 31, 2246 North Blvd., was booked Thursday with attempted second-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon, felon in possession of a firearm, aggravated criminal damage to property and simple battery by the Baton Rouge Police Department, according to parish jail records.
According to the warrant, the victim told police that Broadway drove up in the early morning hours of Aug 8 and asked him if he wanted to fight.
Broadway swung at the victim and they began to fight, the warrant says.
After the fight, the victim went into a home on N. 25th Street, cleaned up from the fight and then went into his vehicle to leave, the warrant says.
The victim said Broadway fired a revolver at his vehicle while he was inside of it, the warrant says.
The victim got out of the vehicle and ran into the home when Broadway fired several more shots at him but missed, the warrant says.
The victim told police Broadway is upset with him because he is now dating Broadway’s ex-girlfriend, according to the warrant.
