Baton Rouge police are searching for a man who walked into the Regions Bank on South Sherwood Forest Boulevard on Monday with a handgun and robbed the bank, a police spokesman said.

The man walked up to a teller at 3:55 p.m. at the bank at 3121 S. Sherwood Forest Blvd., pulled a gun and demanded money, Cpl. L’Jean McKneely said.

After snatching the money from the teller’s hands, the robber ran outside toward the rear of the building, McKneely said.

The robber is described as a black man about 6 feet tall, weighing between 180 and 190 pounds. He was wearing sunglasses, a dark-colored sweatshirt and red athletic shoes during the robbery, McKneely said.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at (225) 389-3845 or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-7867.
