Four people were injured in a head-on crash on Wax Road on Saturday evening, State Police said.

Most of Wax Road was closed for a couple hours because of the incident, but the city of Central reported about 6:30 p.m. that the street had been reopened.

A Honda CRV was headed west on Wax Road near Sullivan Drive about 4:30 p.m. when it crossed the center divider and slammed into a Jeep head-on, said Trooper 1st Class Jared Sandifer, a State Police spokesman.

The three passengers in the Jeep were taken to a hospital with injuries ranging from moderate to serious, while the Honda’s driver was moderately injured, Sandifer said.

It was not yet clear whether alcohol is a factor in the crash, he added.
