Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the death of a man whose body was found Thursday morning on an East Baton Rouge Parish Department of Public Works maintenance lot off La. 19 just north of Baker.
No foul play is suspected in the man’s death, and investigators are working to determine how the man died, said Savannah Williams, a Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.
Dr. Beau Clark, the parish coroner, said an autopsy is being conducted on the man Thursday afternoon. The results should be available later in the day, Clark said.
A DPW employee found the man Thursday morning near a fence at the maintenance lot, said Bryan Harmon, DPW’s Interim Director.
Harmon said the man who died was not a DPW employee.
“Nobody really knows at this point what took place or what happened,” Harmon said.
