State Police began investigating a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning after a 28-year-old man died after his car hit a tree along Interstate 10 in Ascension Parish, State Police said in a news release.
Louisiana State Police Troop A began the investigation about 3 a.m. and identified the victim as Seth Orcutt, of Lorman, Mississippi, Trooper 1st Class Bryan Lee said in the news release.
Police discovered Orcutt was traveling westbound on Interstate 10 in a 2002 Kia Spectra when, for unknown reasons, his vehicle ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree on the driver’s side, Lee said.
Orcutt was restrained, but he received fatal injuries during the incident, Lee said. The Ascension Parish Coroner’s Office pronounced Orcutt dead at the scene.
Police suspect impairment to be a factor in the crash, and the Coroner’s Office will conduct a toxicology test, Lee said.
