Police arrested a man Friday in an early morning shooting at a north Baton Rouge carwash.

Police were dispatched to the area of Sherwood Street and North Foster Drive in reference to shots being fired at 1:19 a.m., police spokesman Sgt. Don Stone said in the news release.

When officers arrived in the area, they saw several people running away from the scene, including Dasmond Franklin who was detained, the news release says.

The victim, a 23-year-old man, told police he was walking with a group near the carwash at 4200 North Foster Drive when he was shot, a news release says.

The victim was transported to a hospital in a privately owned vehicle with a non-life threatening injury, the news release says.

After further investigation, detectives determined that Franklin was the shooter, the news release says.

Franklin, 19, 12789 Erin St., was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on counts of attempted first-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon, the news release says.
