Arrest made in April 8 North Ardenwood Drive shooting incident _lowres

Jaquan Johnson, 20

A 20-year-old Baton Rouge man accused of shooting a woman earlier this month outside an apartment in the 650 block of North Ardenwood Drive remains in jail in lieu of $170,000 bail.

Jaquan Dateris Johnson, of 1919 Boulevard de Province, walked up to a group of people sitting outside an apartment building just before 7 p.m. on April 8 and asked for one of the people by name, a Baton Rouge Police report says.

When the man acknowledged he was there, Johnson pulled out a handgun and began firing, the report says.

Though he missed his target, the report says, Johnson shot a woman in the arm while she was sitting next to the intended victim.

Three people identified Johnson as the shooter, the report says.

Baton Rouge Police arrested Johnson on Sunday evening and booked him into Parish Prison on two counts of attempted second-degree murder and one count each of felon in possession of a firearm and illegal use of a weapon.
