Baton Rouge Police late Saturday were investigating the discovery of two bodies found in open fields in North Baton Rouge, one of them a woman shot to death and found partially nude.
Cpl. L’Jean McKneely, a police spokesman, said the two incidents are not believed to be related.
Police found the paritally nude body of a 30-year-old woman in a field near the 1500 block of Gracie Street about 12:20 p.m. on Saturday, McKneely said. He did not disclose her identity.
The woman suffered multiple gunshots wounds, McKneely said, in an attack that police believe happened Friday night.
Later on Saturday, around 7:15 p.m. police found a body in a field in the 1300 block of Plank Road at Scenic Highway, McKneely said. He said the unidentified individual was found “face down in a puddle of water, surrounded by weeds.”
Details surround the death are unclear at this time, McKneely said. He did not disclose if the body that was found was male or female.
Anyone with information relative to either incident is urged to contact the Violent Crimes Unit at 389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at 344-7867.
