Nearly two years after State Police determined he was the father, a Lake Providence man was arrested Wednesday night on a count of aggravated rape connected with impregnating a 12-year-old Baton Rouge girl.
Roderick Spurlock, 30, 9450 La. 65 South, Lake Providence, was also booked in Parish Prison on a count of being a fugitive from justice. The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office made the arrest.
According to a warrant issued for his arrest on May 14, Spurlock is accused of having sex with the victim between Oct. 5 and Nov. 5, 2011, when she was just 12 years old.
The victim had the baby on Aug. 3, 2012 and the victim identified Spurlock as the father, according to the warrant. That same day, Louisiana State Police crime lab conducted a paternity test and positively identified Spurlock as the father, according to the warrant.
