A man was shot Friday morning after two robbers broke into a North Ardenwood Drive apartment and stole several belongings inside, Baton Rouge police said.

The incident happened around 11:20 a.m., when two men kicked in the door of an apartment in a complex near Florida Boulevard, said Cpl. L’Jean McKneely, a Baton Rouge Police Department spokesman. Three people were inside at the time, he said.

Inside the apartment, one of the robbers shot a man in the forearm. He was taken to a hospital, and his injuries are “very minor,” McKneely said.

Witnesses told police the shooting could have something to do with drugs, McKneely said.

“It’s surrounding some type of drug activity, so it’s not like this is some kind of random act,” he said.

The investigation is ongoing.
