Police: Woman accused of cruelty to a juvenile after beating her child for more than an hour _lowres

Baton Rouge Police arrested a 35-year-old woman Thursday and accused her of severely beating her child, a police report says.

Someone called the police after hearing a child screaming from an apartment, police said. The caller told police that the beating had been going on for more than an hour.

Officers made contact with Renorda K. Seaberry, 10032 Avenue I St., Apt. 1A, and her son and discovered with “severe bruising and swelling” on both arms, as well as a large mark on his leg, police said. Seaberry told police she used a belt to hit the child, whose age was no disclosed in the report.

Seaberry was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a count of cruelty to a juvenile, police said.
