The last of four males accused in the rape of a 14-year-old girl was arrested Tuesday, Zachary police said.
Denzel Hamilton, 17, 4184 Maple Drive, Baton Rouge, who was arrested Tuesday, is accused along with Bertrae Paul, 20, and Tyquan Paul, 17, and a juvenile in the rape, said Lt. Johnny Dillon Jr., of the Zachary Police Department’s criminal investigations division.
All were booked on aggravated rape and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
The juvenile, identified in court documents only by the initials K.D., was booked on aggravated rape.
All four of the accused are now in custody, Dillon said. Hamilton surrendered to police Tuesday morning and was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
Police responded to Lane Regional Medical Center, where the victim told police she was lured from her house and sexually assaulted by four males around 8 p.m. on or about June 7 by a text message, Officer Lt. Johnny Dillon said in a police report. She met the males at the front of her subdivision, and they rode bicycles to a house at 5150 Old Scenic Highway, Zachary, she told police, where they forcibly removed her clothes and raped her, Dillon said.
The victim told police Hamilton took photographs during the assault, and Bertrae Paul told him to delete them, Dillon said. Police located the images but were unable to confirm whether they were of her. The victim then said they agreed to take her home but on the way back left her on the side of the road.
Dillon later interviewed Tyquan Paul and K.D., who said they did pick her up and take her to the mentioned location. They told police she was a willing participant. They also told police Bertrae Paul was asleep in his room at the time and unaware of what was happening in the house.
