Fire investigators suspect arson as the cause of a blaze that engulfed a Baton Rouge house on Saturday, a Baton Rouge Fire Department spokesman said.
Firefighters were called to 3535 Topeka St. shortly before 2 p.m. and “found the house totally engulfed in flames,” Fire Department spokesman Curt Monte said.
The fire was brought under control about 16 minutes after arrival, Monte said.
The house was not occupied at the time, and no injuries were reported in the fire, he said. Damage is estimated at $50,000.
Anyone with information about the fire is asked to call 225-354-1419.
