Fire investigators suspect arson as the cause of a Monday morning fire at a vacant house on Thomas H. Delpit Drive that spread to an occupied home next door. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters were called to 2227 Thomas H. Delpit at 2:12 a.m. While firefighters battled the fire, the house next door started to burn. Fires at both houses were under control by 2:45 a.m.

The vacant house was a total loss. The other house, which had three residents, is valued at $100,000 and sustained about $25,000 in damage. Red Cross is assisting the residents.
