East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s deputies on Friday arrested a second man wanted in the killing of a 22-year-old man Wednesday night on Tracy Avenue.
Karlos Ghoram, 20, was arrested Friday in the fatal shooting of Oswal Migdonio Andrade, of Baton Rouge. Andrade, who was shot around 11:10 p.m. Wednesday in the 9000 block of Tracy Avenue, was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead from his injuries.
The shooting spurred a large-scale manhunt into the early morning hours that led authorities to a 16-year-old who was arrested on principal to armed robbery and principal to first-degree murder. Two suspects remained at large until deputies picked up Ghoram
Detectives learned through witnesses that Andrade was talking to two others outside a residence on Tracy Avenue Wednesday night when three others walked up, the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office report says. Andrade had a brief talk with one of the three suspects who approached them, and then the three suspects walked away, the report says.
Shortly after, the two witnesses alongside Andrade heard a gunshot and saw Andrade lying on the ground bleeding. A nearby witness saw the three suspects run away, the report says.
When deputies interviewed the 16-year-old, he told them he had come to the house with two men in a stolen vehicle to see Andrade. As he and Andrade were talking, the teenager told police, he heard multiple gunshots and ran back to the vehicle with the other two in an attempt to leave, but the vehicle broke down. From there, they ran, he told detectives.
Ghoram, of 4150 72nd Avenue, Apt. 313, turned himself in to sheriff’s deputies and was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on first-degree murder and armed robbery.
Ghoram’s bail is set at $50,000.
One suspect remains. Lawrence Bennett, 17, whose last known address is 6354 Silverleaf Ave., Baton Rouge, is wanted on principal to first-degree murder and principal to armed robbery, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Andrade, the shooting victim, moved to the United States from Honduras 15 years ago and worked as a roofer, family said Thursday. He immigrated after his grandmother died in Honduras.
