A Baton Rouge man is accused of choking his 18-year-old nephew and beating a 13-year-old boy with a wooden board last year over a missing cellphone.

East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff’s deputies Tuesday arrested Roderick Davis, 35, on a warrant issued in August when the incidents took place, according to a warrant and booking records.

Davis apparently believed the victims had stolen the missing phone, according to the warrant.

The 18-year-old victim told investigators Davis choked him, lifted him off the floor and slammed his head into a wall, deputies said.

The 13-year-old victim said Davis beat him with a wooden board and punched him several times the previous day, deputies said.

The victims told investigators they believed Davis had been using drugs.

Davis, 8773 Old Hermitage Parkway, Apt. B, was booked Tuesday into Parish Prison on counts of aggravated battery, cruelty to juveniles, simple battery and criminal damage to property.
