Update, 7:30 a.m.:
State Police reported early Saturday that Nelson has been located in Natchez, Miss., unharmed.
Authorities are trying to locate an 80-year-old Lake Charles woman who left home Friday morning but never arrived at a nearby family Christmas gathering.
Nell Sandford Nelson’s car, a white 2011 Ford Edge with Louisiana license plate TYG615, was spotted across the state in Hammond around 5 p.m. Friday, Louisiana State Police spokesman Sgt. James Anderson said.
Nelson last spoke with relatives around 9 a.m. Friday as she was preparing to leave her Lake Charles home for the gathering, Anderson said.
Nelson suffers “from a medical condition which may impair her judgement,” Anderson said.
About 5 foot 5 inches tall with graying hair and blue eyes, Nelson was last seen wearing red pants, a white button-up blouse and a red vest, and she regularly wears eyeglasses, Anderson said.
Anyone having any information on her whereabouts should immediately contact the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office at (337) 491-3795 or Sgt. Stacey Pearson of the Louisiana State Police at (337) 962-2605 or email@example.com.
