VENTRESS — A Ventress man was killed early Saturday in a single-vehicle crash in Pointe Coupee Parish, State Police reported.
The wreck occurred on La. 413 south of La. 414 shortly after 2:30 a.m., according to a State Police news release.
Andrew Mixon, 27, was driving a 2000 Ford pickup west on La. 413 when he lost control as he entered a right-hand curve, troopers said.
The pickup ran off the road to the right and struck two trees before coming to rest against the second tree.
Mixon, who was not wearing a seat belt when the crash occurred, was fatally injured, according to state troopers on the scene.
The Pointe Coupee Coroner’s Office pronounced Mixon dead at the scene.
Troopers said they suspect alcohol impairment to have played a factor in the wreck and have submitted a sample of Mixon’s blood to the Louisiana State Police Crime Laboratory for chemical analysis.
The crash remains under investigation, State Police added.
