Sleeping Baton Rouge couple awakened by gunfire, finds bullet hole in bed’s headboard, Sheriff’s Office reports _lowres

A girlfriend and boyfriend stirred by the sound of a gunshot while sleeping later found a bullet hole in the headboard of their bed Sunday, according to an East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s report.

The couple told authorities they heard a bang about 3 a.m. in an apartment the 11000 block of Nicholson Drive in Baton Rouge, but “didn’t think anything of it” before drifting back to sleep, the report says . By 8:15 p.m. on Sunday, the pair noticed the wall behind their headboard was perforated and their bed frame was damaged, according to the statement.

Authorities found a bullet in the headboard, the report says .

Lauren Michelle Lee, 20, admitted she was in the adjacent apartment early Sunday morning when she pulled the trigger of what she believed was an unloaded gun, according to the statement.

Lee, who was intoxicated at the time of the incident, was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail on counts of aggravated criminal damage to property and illegal use of a weapon, the report says .

She was released Monday in lieu of $7,500 bond , according to jail records.
