A home invasion and armed robbery near LSU Wednesday night ended with three apparent victims arrested on drug counts, while the two people suspected of targeting them remain at large, Baton Rouge police spokesman Sgt. Don Coppola Jr. said Thursday morning.
One of the men arrested was shot during the incident and received non-life threatening injuries. He was transported to the hospital for treatment and later booked into Parish Prison, Coppola said.
Crews responded to the 700 block of Ben Hur Road around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday. The location is an apartment complex called The Lodges, formerly The Cottages.
During a search of the home where the reported robbery took place, police found marijuana and MDMA, also known as ecstasy, according to arrest reports.
Police booked three men on drug counts, including the resident whose apartment was searched. It was not immediately clear which man was shot.
Coppola said two black male suspects involved with the armed robbery and shooting remain at large and the investigation remains ongoing.
Orlando McMiller, 22, 8700 Ben Hur Road, Baton Rouge, was booked on counts of possession with intent to distribute Schedule I marijuana and possession with intent to distribute Schedule I MDMA.
Dominique Davis, 23, 12393 Legacy Hills, Geismar, and Cade Duckworth, 22, 1486 Lia Street, Baton Rouge, were each booked on one count of possession with intent to distribute Schedule I marijuana.
A similar incident took place Monday night at the Campus Crossings apartment complex on Brightside Drive when police started investigating an apparent home invasion and found drugs inside the victim's apartment. Suspects later told officers they planned to steal drugs and money. They were arrested along with the man whose apartment they targeted.
Coppola said investigators believe the Monday and Wednesday night incidents were not related.
