A Tuesday evening fire did heavy damage to the offices of Finance First, a credit repair service at 2450 College Drive.

The Baton Rouge Fire Department arrived on scene at 7:33 p.m., deploying four pumper trucks, one ladder truck and two support vehicles and bringing the fire under control by 7:44 p.m.

“Fire damage was held to the room where it began and a small portion of the attic above that room,” department spokesperson Robert Combs said in an email, but the rest of the building was heavily damaged by heat, smoke and water.

Firefighters estimate damage at $200,000 — two thirds the value of the building and contents.

The cause of the fire is being investigated, he said. “Investigators believe this fire began in a closet of one of the offices.”
