Baton Rouge man booked in Craigslist car scam _lowres

A Baton Rouge man was killed Monday night on Evangeline Street when his motorcycle was struck by a drunken driver in a car, said Cpl. Don Coppola, spokesman for the Baton Rouge Police Department.

Dana Scott, 44, of 9661 W. Darryl Drive, died from his injuries in the crash that occurred in the 3700 block of Evangeline Street at about 7:30 p.m., Coppola said.

Scott was riding a 2012 Suzuki motorcycle east on Evangeline when a 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche, traveling west on Evangeline, attempted to make a left turn onto Maple Street, hitting Scott and causing him to be thrown off the motorcycle, Coppola said.

Calvin Moore, 43, 3419 Ontario St., was booked into Parish Prison on counts of vehicular homicide, first-offense DWI, reckless operation and failure to yield right away.

Officers detected alcohol on Moore’s breath and he admitted to police that he had been drinking prior to the crash, Coppola said. An alcohol breath test was administered to Moore and showed a blood-alcohol level of 0.126, Coppola said. A blood-alcohol content of 0.08 percent or higher is considered presumptive evidence of drunken driving in Louisiana.

Neither Moore nor a passenger in his car, Geroid Worman, 17, of 4538 Shelly St., suffered any injuries in the crash, Coppola said.
