A grand jury indicted a 31-year-old Norwood man Wednesday in the deaths of a Louisiana couple whose bodies were found in their home earlier this month.

Eric Sanders is accused of killing his ex-wife, 46-year-old Kem Smith, of Clinton, and her boyfriend, 39-year-old Clifton Cowan Jr., of Zachary, on Dec. 6.

Samuel D’Aquilla, the district attorney for the Feliciana parishes, said Wednesday the grand jury indicted Sanders on two counts of first-degree murder.

A relative found the bodies at a home on La. 10 east of Clinton, and authorities arrested Sanders the next day.
